Risky Reward
Editorial design for Time Out Magazine’s “Risky Reward” (spec), an article exploring tourism to Pyongyang North Korea.
Tension is created through bold condensed display type imposing on imagery and negative space, as well as the interaction of building cutouts with the text. A primary color palette reflects the artificial quality of the city’s presentation and the communist regime brewing underneath, lending to a sense of danger, yet curiosity to discover.
